Matte lips have become more of a trend during 2014, meaning the drugstore brands have come out with a multitude of new matte lip products. The Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet (ASOS, $17.06) is a liquid product which comes with a doe-foot applicator much like a traditional lip gloss, meaning it is super easy to apply and easy to top up whilst you’re on the go.
The formula dries down on the lips to a matte finish, and is a little on the drying side, so before using this, it’s a good idea to exfoliate and moisturize the lips properly.
The application as mentioned before is really easy and the applicator makes it easy to draw out the shape of the lips. You can use one layer of this to provide a more subtle stain finish, or you can build up two-three layers to create a really opaque colour.
The lasting power of the lip product is great. Since it dries down matte, it tends to stick around for a while, and once it disappears it just fades to a subtle stain without coming off unevenly or in patches.
These are great for both daytime and evening, and come in a wide range of colours. The colour I have used is 02.Framboise, but the range covers all bases of pinks, reds and peaches so you’re bound to find something to suit you.
Will you be picking up one of these? What’s your favorite matte lip product?
