Cinco de Mayo is a highly underrated holiday in terms of where it lands on the celebration scale. Let me give you an idea: I googled “Cinco de Mayo” and the first results to come up were restaurant suggestions. Whether you can really get behind the Battle of Puebla or you’re ready to celebrate Mexican American culture, you could probably use a margarita today. Here are cinco Pinterest-sourced recipes for your at-home sipping pleasure:

1. The Classic


World's Best #Margarita Recipe -- this is good - I used orange juice in place of the 7-up.

This is billed as “the BEST margarita,” but you should probably see for yourself. You never know until you try, right?

1 can limeade

1 can gold tequila

1/2 can water

1/2 can 7-Up

1 Corona beer

Juice of 1 Lime

Mix well and either serve over ice or put it in a blender and blend with ice until desired consistency.

2. The 3-Ingredient Pomegranate


Three ingredient cocktails are my favorite. This pomegranate margarita gets made by the pitcher at our house.

Easy, refreshing, and pomegranates are healthy so this is good for you, probably?

16 oz of POM pomegranate juice

1 can frozen limeade concentrate

2 to 2 1/2 cups tequila

limes for garnish and/or sugar or salt for glass rims

Empty the limeade concentrate into a large pitcher. Add 2 1/2 cans of cold water. Add 16-20 oz of tequila. Add POM juice, and a couple lime wedges and ice to fill. Mix thoroughly. Place the pitcher, covered, in the fridge for at least two hours.

3. The Super Skinny


Super Skinny Margarita (about 100 calories per serving)  Serves 4   Ingredients: 12 ounces Sparkling Lemon Lime water, 6  ounces tequila, 1/4 cup orange juice, 2 TBSP fresh squeezed lemon juice, 1 lime sliced for garnish Optional: coarse salt for rimming glass.

12 oz sparkling lemon lime water

6 oz tequila

1/4 cup orange juice

2 Tbsp fresh-squeezed lemon juice

lime for garnish

Basically just do what you’ve been doing: pour, mix, and drink!

4. The Food Network Frozen Watermelon


Food Network invites you to try this Frozen Watermelon Margaritas recipe from Food Network Kitchens.

It’s a credible source and a cool, refreshing flavor– what more do you need?

1 1/2 cups cubed watermelon

1 cup tequila

1/2 cup lime juice

1/2 cup orange liqueur

1-2 Tbsp confectioners’ sugar

1/2 tsp salt

3 cups ice

Puree all of the above ingredients in a blender. This should get you four delicious margaritas to save or share!

5. The Cotton Candy


Cotton candy margaritas

For something a little more out-of-the-box to satisfy your festive but unorthodox sweet tooth…

3/4 cup tequila

1/2 cup fresh-squeezed lime juice

1/2 cup cream soda (suggested: Jones)

1/4 cup orange liqueur

1 package cotton candy

Combine all liquid ingredients in a mason jar and shake vigorously. Fill serving glasses 3/4 of the way with cotton candy. Pour mixture over cotton candy until glass is half full. Add ice. Stir to combine.
