I’m starting to see mint and other pastel colored manicures all over the city this week, so I took it to mean the beauty equivalent of groundhog day. I have a bit of an obsession with the color mint, and own a few accessories in this sweet, preppy hue. It’s more refined than teal but not as uptight as royal blue, so really, it strikes a perfect balance. The bright cheery color just evokes a very spring-like giddiness in me that I cannot control!
The color I’m wearing is called “Turquoise & Caicos” from the 2010 resort collection by Essie ($8.50, Ulta.com), and it is perfect for spring. I always see mint worn so many different ways in the summer but spring really is the season for this gorgeous pastel. Unlike with eyeshadow or clothes keeping the mint limited to nails still lets you express your joy for the season but in a classy, grown-up way. Co-workers will see you in your otherwise typical outfit but your nails will carry a secret: Spring is here!
If you really want to have fun with this color, you can add a cute nail applique or design using one of the many nail design kits out there. Personally, I prefer to keep it simple and let this color speak for itself. A hint of mint on my hands and a neutral toned outfit to compliment is perfect for work, school, or even brunch with the in laws.
