We all love a little bit of celebrity stalking, even if we admit it or not. Whether we look for inspiration in their latest looks so we can keep up with the upcoming trends, or simply search for juicy gossip, Instagram is our go-to platform.
Fashion blogger, model and founder of Kayture.com, Kristina Bazan caught my eye with her astonishing good looks: healthy skin, which reveals an inner glow, defined eyes and natural lips. The Swiss blogger’s makeup look is definitely our midsummer night’s dream! The orange eye shadow reminds us of the soft grunge trend and paired with smudged eye liner and lashes for days, the result compliments perfectly Kristina’s cerulean eyes.
However, what stands out is her radiance and natural hue of the lips. When it comes to the glow itself, a flawless canvas is needed and thus, we would have to go back to basics. Skincare is the starting point to all great makeup looks and even though we all claim to preach the mantra “Cleanse, exfoliate, tone, moisturize”, we become lazy and then wonder why we break out. The key is to never sleep with makeup on and to keep your complexion moisturized! Your skin is dry? Moisturize. Your skin is oily? Moisturize. Feeling like during summer time moisturizing is optional? Wrong, moisturize some more. Your skin will be grateful, I promise. Besides, applying a hydrating cream underneath your foundation will not only act as a barrier for your skin, but will also shine through the makeup. Clinique’s Dramatically Different Moisturizing Lotion, ($44.19 at Bluefly.com)is the more expensive alternative, but if I am going to spend more money on something, I would totally prefer splurging on skincare rather than makeup.
Next, highlighter is our bestest friend who can fake a healthy gleam for us. Liquid or powder, he will always be there for you, rescuing your face from dullness, giving it a goddess effect. Benefit’s High Beam ($14.99 at amazon.com) is a very popular liquid highlighter that will last you for ages and will never disappoint (speaking from experience), but you could also go for the trusty old Soft and Gentle powder from MAC. Applied on the high points of the face: cheekbones, brow bones, nose and a tiny bit dabbed on the Cupid’s bow, your look will go from average to fab in an instant!
Time for lips! Embracing the natural lip color can be a challenge, but what can help boost your confidence when rocking your real shade is a toothbrush and, of course, lip balm. Gently brushing the lips with a toothbrush will exfoliate and get rid of the ever so annoying dead skin and make them plumper. Finishing off with the lip balm, we recommend the Sugar Lip Treatment ($22.5 at Shop.Nordstrom.com) which has an essential SPF of 15.
There we have it, natural or with a bit of help, the healthy look will never go out of style, and I’m sure Taylor Swift can agree.
