Acne scars are something that a surprisingly large number of people have. We have all gone through the same difficult teenage stage, unfortunately the ending of this stage doesn’t mean it disappears all together. A lot of us are left with acne scars. Very few get away from those teenage years without a few marks to show for it. So today let’s have a look into how to hide those acne scars.
First things first, start off with a good primer. We don’t want all our efforts to go to waste as our makeup disappears in an hour or two. Benefit the porefessional, ($31.00, Macy’s.com) is great for smoothing over any flaws and holds your makeup in place from dawn till dusk.
Next we want to go in and conceal. If you are still prone to acne apply concealer using very clean fingers or a clean brush. Choose a concealer that is a close match to your skintone or slightly darker, using a lighter shade will highlight the area and draw attention to what you are concealing rather than away. If your acne scarring is very red use a green color correcting concealer first. There are plenty of great concealers out there for heavy duty jobs like this, Maybelline’s Fit Me Shine Free Foundation, ($6.99, Target.com) and Collection’s Lasting Perfection Concealer, ($6.49, Amazon) are two examples.
Foundation coverage varies across the board and you do not have to go searching high and low for the perfect acne scar covering foundation. Revlon’s Colorstay, ($9.99,Target.com) is a cult favorite among those with acne scars. A cheaper alternative is Rimmel London’s Lasting Finish 25 Hour Foundation, ($7.99, Amazon).
Now that you have your products all selected pick your weapon of choice. Either use a clean foundation brush or sponge, it is not advisable to use your fingers. Make sure when applying your foundation that you do not erase your concealing work.
Finally seal it all up with some powder like Maybelline Oil Control Loose Powder, ($5.99, Ulta).
