The dream of the 90’s might be alive in Portland, but now you can take it with you anywhere you go. I’m sorry to say that I somehow forgot to wear my much-beloved choker during this last #TBT Tutorial installment, but you can accessorize however you choose once you’re ready to ~spice up your life~.

Let’s get started.

90s-0_edit (2)

You know the drill.

Step 1

90s-1_edit

The 90s loved penciled-in brows, but I honestly can’t tear myself apart from my Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade, Chocolate ($18, Ulta), so that’s what I’m using. You can get all the precision of a pencil but with a little more richness.

Step 2

I’m once again adding some light shadowing to my face with bareMinerals All-Over Face Color, Warmth ($20, Sephora). In the words of the great Britney Spears, that is just so typically me.

Step 3

Give yourself a natural glow with Au Naturale Blusher, Pixie ($24, Au Naturale). We’re channeling the grungier side of the 90s, so we need any bright or extravagant 80s-esque blushes!

Step 4

Pump up the jam with a smoky, garage-band shadow with a little bit of color. I used Ulta Eye Shadow, Verdigris– which unfortunately is discontinued– but you can find something similar like Ulta Demi Eyeshadow, Ivy League ($6, Ulta) or Urban Decay Cosmetics Eye Shadow, Mildew ($19, Ulta). Start at the lashline and work your way up to the crease so that the concentration of color is closer to your eye; however, you do want to cover the lid and the outer corner of the bottom lashline.

Step 5

For an everlong-lasting look, use bareMinerals Lasting Line Long-Wearing Eyeliner, Absolute Black ($16, Ulta) to line the lashline, waterline, and outer half of the lower lashline. Then, the all-important step: smudge! Nothing says “Oh, am I cool? I couldn’t hear you over my ripped jeans and menswear plaid” like some ~carelessly~ smudged eyeliner.

Step 6

We know what a girl wants, Xtina– it’s mascara. Amp up those lashes for some simple lift with Rimmel London Wonder’Lash Mascara with Argan Oil, Extreme Black ($8.99, Ulta).

Step 7

90s-7_edit

Perhaps the most important step in the pursuit of a semi-charmed life: lip-liner. Go for a bold brown like Palladio Precision Lip Liner, Gingerbread ($5.99, Ulta).

Step 8

90s-8_edit

Polish off your vida loca with a kiss from a (brown) rose. I used Maybelline Super Stay 14 Hour Lipstick, Endless Raisin ($8.45, drugstore.com) for the first time and am now obsessed.

This is how we do it.

You are now a wonderwall, an all star, and everything in-between. Now go lace up your Converse, cower in fear of Y2K, and smell that teen spirit.

Would you rock 90s grunge?
